Family Owned and Operated
The Balafoutas Family has woven themselves into the culinary fabric of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, creating a legacy that spans three generations of passionate restaurateurs. Their journey began in the vibrant 1960s when Greek immigrant, Theodore N. Balafoutas, arrived with the American dream, establishing the beloved Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop that quickly became a morning ritual for locals.
The family's reputation for exceptional hospitality and authentic flavors flourished, allowing Nick T. Balafoutas to expand their vision with the opening of the Cozy Inn in the early-1970s. This charming establishment became known for its intimate atmosphere and fine dining.
When the opportunity arose to acquire the historic Copper Kettle Restaurant in 1998, the third generation of Balafoutas restaurateurs, Ted N. Balafoutas embraced the challenge with the same dedication that defined their family success.
Today, the third generation of the Balafoutas family continues this remarkable tradition, having apprenticed in the family kitchens since childhood—learning not just recipes, but the invaluable art of creating community through food. Their restaurants have witnessed countless first dates, anniversary celebrations, business deals, and family reunions, serving as gathering places where memories are made alongside meals.
